The End of the Road: The Complete List of Microsoft Products That Will 'Stop Playing' in 2025

All Microsoft products and services will reach end of support (EoL) in 2025.

We all know that Windows 10 will officially end support on October 14, 2025. But that's not all — there are many more Microsoft products that will be retiring this year. This list includes Visual Studio 2015, Windows 11 IoT, Enterprise, and Education 22H2 editions, and Windows 10 2015 LTSB. And for your convenience, here are all the Microsoft products and services that will reach end of support (EoL) in 2025.

Products subject to the 'Modern Lifecycle Policy'

With this policy, products are supported as long as customers keep the software up to date, have a valid license, and Microsoft continues to provide service. The 2025 end of support/decommissioning list includes:

  • Microsoft Genomics – January 6, 2025

  • Visual Studio App Center – March 31, 2025

Products subject to the 'Fixed Lifecycle Policy'

Unlike the Modern Policy, this policy specifies a support period from launch, with a minimum of 5 years of official support and the possibility of extended support. The list of support ending this year includes:

  • Windows Defender Exploit Guard / Defender for Windows 10 – October 14, 2025

  • Windows Server 2012 & 2012 R2 (ESU Year 2) – 10/14/2025

Products moving from mainstream to extended support

  • SQL Server 2019 – mainstream support ends 28/02/2025, extended support ends 08/01/2030

  • Azure DevOps Server 2020 and Microsoft Robotics – end of mainstream support 10/14/2025, extended support until 10/08/2030

With a product portfolio as large as Microsoft's, it's understandable that many tools and services will end support in the same year. If you or your business still uses these software, plan to upgrade or replace them now to avoid disruptions at the end of 2025.
