Overall design and screen
Overall design and screen
Basically, both Realme Watch and Realme Watch 2 possess a lot of similarities in design, but not exactly the same. For example, the second generation has a thinner border around the screen, the large Realme logo below the bottom edge of the screen has also been omitted, giving a much more modern feel than the old generation. However, the Realme Watch 2 will be a bit heavier than the Realme Watch because it is equipped with a larger battery.
Both smartwatch models are waterproof with IP6 certification. This is a very valuable piece of equipment, but of course not suitable for use when swimming or diving.
In general, the finishing quality of the Realme Watch and Realme Watch 2 are only average, or rather, the most acceptable for the low-cost smartwatch segment.
Regarding the screen, there will be no difference between the Realme Watch and the Realme Watch 2. Both are equipped with a 1.4-inch IPS panel with a resolution of 320 x 320 pixels. However, the Realme Watch 2 offers higher brightness: up to 600 nits compared to only 380 nits on the first-generation Realme Watch, promising better bright outdoor visibility.
Software and features
Both Realme Watch and Realme Watch 2 run on the operating system developed exclusively by Realme for smartwatches with a lot of unique features. However, on version 2, users will get more sports tracking modes. Specifically, with the Realme Watch 2, you can experience up to 90 different exercise modes, significantly more than the 14 of the previous generation. Both smartwatch models support smart features to monitor the user's sleep, blood oxygen (SpO2) and heart rate.
Of course, it is impossible not to mention other basic features that must be present on a smartwatch model: Control music playback and camera, support reading notifications. However, you won't be able to use both of these watch models to reply to incoming SMS messages.
Both Realme Watch and Realme Watch 2 can be used to control smart home gadgets and devices compatible with Realme's app, such as Realme Buds Air, air purifiers, smart lights, speakers, smart TVs, etc.
Both watch models support connecting to smartphones via the Realme Link app and Bluetooth 5.0. From this app, users can synchronize the complete data collected from the watch and track them through extremely detailed statistics and analytical graphs. You can also adjust your device's settings through the app. Other useful software features to mention include find your phone, unlock your phone, reminders, weather, vibration alarms, call rejection, and more.
The battery
The battery is one of the main advantages of the Realme Watch 2 compared to the first generation Realme Watch, with a significantly larger capacity: 315mAh versus 160mAh. Realme has doubled the battery capacity, while not only not increasing the weight too much, but also reducing the overall size of the watch. Thanks to the 315mAh battery capacity, the Realme Watch 2 can last up to 12 days on a single charge. This is clearly excellent usage time for a device with an IPS color display. While with Realme Watch, the usage time will only last from 7 to 9 days.
Your choice
Although Realme Watch 2 has not yet launched an international version, in general there will not be much difference in price compared to the first generation (at the time of launch). Therefore, if you are intending to own the first Realme Watch, choosing to buy Realme Watch 2 will be reasonable.
Conversely, in case you are owning a Realme Watch, upgrading to version 2 may not be really necessary.
