South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol announced that next May, a train model produced by the country will be put into use, with faster speeds to help shorten travel time and aim to reach the ambition of traveling around the country in just a few minutes. for two hours.

This announcement was announced by the Korean leader at a ceremony marking the 20th anniversary of the Korean high-speed train coming into operation. This event was held in conjunction with the launch ceremony of the new high-speed train taking place at the Korea Railway Corporation headquarters in Daejon City (about 139km from Seoul).

The new high-speed train's name Cheongnyong was chosen through a competition and means "green dragon".

When put into operation, Cheongnyong will be the fastest train in Korea with a maximum speed of up to 320km/h. The Korean President's Office said that the train is equipped with the best speed control technology, optimized for Korea's railway infrastructure, which often has short distances, many stops and curves.

In addition, the new ship model is manufactured using 100% local design and technology, of which 87% of ship spare parts are domestically sourced.

"Starting next May, we will put the Cheongnyong high-speed train into operation on the Gyeongbu and Honam lines, and expand high-speed trains to help shorten travel time by up to 30 minutes," Mr. Yoon said. and refers to the train lines connecting Seoul to Busan and Daejeon to Mokpo.

Accordingly, Korea's high-speed trains will only stop once or twice, helping to reduce travel time between the capital Seoul - the coastal city of Busan to 2 hours and 10 minutes.

In the future, "we will expand the high-speed train system nationwide so that people can travel across the country in just two hours. Thanks to high-speed rail, we will usher in an era where "Wherever people live, they can enjoy full amenities," Mr. Yoon said.
