Kingston Fury launches Renegade G5 8TB SSD: 14,800 MB/s speed, ultra-fast PCIe 5.0 standard.

Kingston Fury introduces the Renegade G5 SSD, an 8TB SSD with read speeds of 14,800 MB/s and write speeds of 14,000 MB/s, supporting PCIe 5.0, aimed at gamers and professional users.

Kingston Fury's new Renegade G5 8TB SSD delivers ultra-fast read/write speeds and massive storage space, meeting the needs of professional users without sacrificing performance.

Impressive speeds: 14,800 MB/s read and 14,000 MB/s write sequentially.

Only a few storage drive manufacturers can reach 14,900 MB/s read speeds, such as Corsair with its MP700 PRO XT or TeamGroup T-Force Z54E, both using the high-end Phison E28 controller. Meanwhile, most 8 TB SSDs on the market – including the Samsung 9100 PRO series – only achieve 13,400 MB/s sequential write speeds, despite claiming 14,800 MB/s read speeds.

Unlike the rest, Kingston Fury has just announced the Renegade G5 PCIe 5.0 SSD with an 8TB capacity, surpassing this limit with read speeds up to 14,800 MB/s and write speeds up to 14,000 MB/s. According to Kingston, the latest version of the Fury Renegade G5 series is aimed at gamers, content creators, and users who need to store large volumes of data, such as high-resolution video or games hundreds of GB in size.

"We are thrilled to be able to offer an 8TB option for the Kingston FURY Renegade G5 SSD line, giving high-end users and hardware enthusiasts the extra power and storage space they need."
Keith Schimmenti, SSD Manager, Kingston

Configuration and technology

Previously, the Renegade G5 was available in 1 TB, 2 TB, and 4 TB versions, and Kingston hinted that an 8 TB model would be released in November 2025. Currently, the price and official release date have not been announced, but it is likely to be quite expensive.

The Renegade G5 uses the PCIe 5.0 x4 interface and comes with 218 layers of BiSC8 3D TLC NAND memory chips for high capacity. This drive is controlled by the Silicon Motion SM2508G chip, which is advertised as being more power-efficient than the Phison E28, although Phison has previously denied this.

Nevertheless, both controllers deliver stable performance and extremely high speeds. With sequential read/write speeds of 14,800/14,000 MB/s, the Renegade G5 8 TB is the first SSD to achieve this performance in the high-capacity segment.

All Kingston FURY Renegade G5 versions, including the 8 TB model, come with a 5-year manufacturer's warranty.
