Zoom has provided a Breakout Rooms feature that allows teachers to create discussion groups for students to discuss topics presented during lectures. This feature is considered very helpful for teachers in creating a learning and teaching atmosphere similar to a traditional classroom setting. Teachers can assign students to discussion groups, or students can choose which groups to join. This article will guide teachers on how to create discussion groups for students in Zoom.

Step 1:
First, teachers need to activate the Breakout Rooms feature on Zoom.us. Teachers can access the website using the link below.

Teachers log in to this interface with their personal account information .
Step 2:
Switching to the new interface, teachers click on the Settings option .
Look to the side under Meeting Management and click on In-Meeting Setup (Basic) .
Step 3:
We will look for the Group Rooms feature and enable it . Below, another option will appear: Allow the host to assign participants to group rooms when scheduling. If you want to use this option, check the box to enable it.
Press the Save button below to save the new settings.
Step 4:
Open the Zoom software on your computer and click on " New Meeting" to create an online class.
In the online classroom interface, teachers click on the Group Room icon .
Step 5:
Now, teachers will select the number of rooms for each group and then click the Create button below.
The basic rooms are now displayed for teachers. Teachers can change the name of each discussion room or delete a room if they wish, by hovering their mouse over the room to reveal the options.
Click the Options button , and other setup options for discussion groups will appear. Check the box next to the option you want to use. Click the Open All Rooms button to proceed with creating the discussion group.
Step 6:
The discussion rooms have now been created. Teachers can enter messages to send to the discussion groups. To close a discussion group, teachers click on "Close all rooms".
