We have new information about the upcoming Google Pixel 10a smartphone, thanks to Evan Blass. Blass shared a network certification from Verizon, essentially confirming its key specifications. Previously, it was predicted that the phone would look quite similar to the Pixel 9a, based on renders shared by Android Headlines, and now we have strong reason to suspect that it will be identical both inside and out.

Admittedly, this is somewhat disappointing.
Many suspected that Google's latest Pixel would share many similarities with its predecessor, but admittedly, this is still disappointing. At least in theory, everything is the same, from the 6.3-inch screen to 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. The only key specification not mentioned in the listing is the chipset, but GSMArena previously reported that the Pixel 10a is expected to use the Tensor G4 – the same as the Pixel 9a.

In theory, the most obvious differences lie in the chip, camera, and memory. However, there are other minor differences – for example, the Pixel A series generally has a lower maximum screen brightness, weaker haptic feedback, and slower charging speeds. On the other hand, they have larger battery capacities, as we can see in the table above.
In short, most people are unlikely to notice the lower specifications of the A series unless they compare them directly. Google 's A series phones are favored for a reason: They offer a great everyday experience at a much more affordable price. Upgrading to higher-end models is only worthwhile if there's a better camera, but even the Pixel A series is known for its excellent cameras.
Why should you buy the Pixel 10a?
It will be interesting to see how Google positions the next version of this popular budget phone. While it's not uncommon for manufacturers to focus on minor upgrades these days, there are usually at least a few differences, however small, to justify an upgrade. It's rare for a product to be renamed without any changes, both internal and external.
Perhaps Google will surprise us with some new colors? We'll find out soon – Google typically launches its A-series phones in the spring.
