'Castle in the sky' - the world's largest aircraft is about to launch
This giant aircraft is called WindRunner, designed by Radia energy company based in Colorado state - USA.
With a length of 108.51 m, WindRunner is 32.31 m longer than the world's longest passenger aircraft Boeing 747-8.
With a potential carrying capacity of about 80 tons, its cabin can also hold 12 times more than previous aircraft.
In order for this giant plane to land, it is necessary to build a runway 1,829 m long.
WindRunner is designed to transport wind turbine blades with a length of 45.72-91.44 m and can weigh 35 tons.
"WindRunner can revolutionize renewable energy by transporting giant wind turbines to different wind farms" - a representative of energy company Radia told the Wall Street Journal.
In fact, giant wind turbine blades have historically only been able to be transported abroad by specialized ships, which limits their use on land.
"The largest wind turbines today and even larger turbines in the future cannot be transported to major onshore wind farms via ground infrastructure," Radia said. added – "This motivated and inspired us to create the world's largest aircraft."
Rocket scientist Mark Lundstrom and his colleagues at Radia have spent the past seven years perfecting the WindRunner aircraft design. After keeping WindRunner a secret for many years, Radia announced that the "castle in the sky" would become a reality in just four years.
As well as revolutionizing the field of wind energy, Mr. Lundstrom also believes that WindRunner's "super transport" capabilities can be applied to many different fields, including transporting large military machinery.
