How does the Windows Battery Report Analyzer work?

This utility reads the battery information already recorded in a Windows power report. It looks for design capacity, full-charge capacity, cycle count, chemistry, and battery identity.

When both capacity values are available, it calculates an estimated health percentage. The file is read by your browser and is not uploaded to TipsMake.

Capacity comparison

Compares design capacity with the latest reported full-charge capacity.

Cycle visibility

Surfaces cycle count when the report and battery firmware provide it.

Conservative rating

Labels the result without claiming that one report proves hardware failure.

Best practices before using the result

  1. Run powercfg /batteryreport from an elevated or normal Windows terminal and open the newest report.
  2. Close private tabs or apps before sharing screenshots; battery reports can contain device and usage details.
  3. Compare reports over time and confirm unusual results with the laptop manufacturer diagnostic.

The analyzer reports only evidence found in the supplied content. “Not detected” does not prove a setting, component, or problem is absent.

When this utility is useful

Short battery runtimeCheck whether reduced full-charge capacity may help explain shorter unplugged use.
Used laptop reviewCompare the reported capacity with the original design value before purchase.
Battery replacement planningTrack wear over time before deciding whether replacement is worthwhile.
Support preparationCreate a concise capacity summary before contacting a manufacturer or repair shop.

Frequently asked questions

Does the battery report get uploaded?

No. The selected file and pasted text are read locally in your browser.

What battery health percentage is good?

A higher full-charge-to-design ratio generally indicates less capacity loss, but battery age, calibration, temperature, workload, and firmware reporting also matter.

Can this tool tell whether a battery is swollen or unsafe?

No. Stop using and physically inspect a device if the battery is swollen, unusually hot, damaged, or producing odor.

Why is cycle count missing?

Some batteries or firmware do not expose cycle count in the Windows report, so a missing value does not mean zero cycles.
