Apple lists a 6.1-inch Super Retina XDR display, the A19 chip with a four-core GPU, a 48MP Fusion rear camera, MagSafe support and storage starting at 256GB. The standard iPhone 17 has a five-core A19 GPU and additional camera and display features; sharing a chip name does not make the two models identical. The 17e retains the notch and a conventional 60Hz display. If you are used to a high-refresh-rate phone, try scrolling on one in person. The 48MP main camera covers everyday photos and video, but the lack of an ultrawide lens limits framing in tight spaces and wide landscapes. Apple lists 4K Dolby Vision video recording; camera quality judgments need sample images and footage, not megapixel counts alone.

The Pixel's listed 3,000-nit peak and iPhone's 1,200-nit HDR peak reflect different stated conditions; these numbers alone are not a controlled outdoor visibility test. The Pixel's ultrawide adds a framing option. The iPhone's larger base storage can matter if you keep many videos or apps locally. Compare the price of the capacity you actually need rather than just the entry prices.
Who should choose it?
Choose the iPhone 17e if you want to stay with iOS, use Apple services and accessories, need 256GB at the entry tier, and accept the simpler screen and camera. Consider the Pixel 10a if a smoother display, ultrawide photography or a lower entry price matters more. Try both interfaces and check carrier, trade-in and local warranty terms before deciding.
